Danny Agger - A true Viking Warrior
In January 2006 Liverpool completed the signing of Denmark international defender Daniel Agger, signing from Brondby for £5.8m whilst signing a four and a half year contract.
He quickly became one of the most popular players during his spell on Merseyside. Sadly his career was blighted by numerous injuries. His first full season at Anfield, in 2006/07, was the only time he made more than 40 appearances in a single season.

His close control and composure on the ball was amazing. He was strong in the air and had extremely quick feet. He was a ‘footballer’ and would be seen taking the ball out of defence building up the play from back.
He had such affection for the club – and affection that was reciprocated by the adoring fans. This was evident when he got the famous YNWA tattoo on his knuckles.
In August 2014 he decided to leave Anfield, finally admitting that the demands of playing at the highest level had taken their toll.
Liverpool effectively facilitated his return to Denmark two years ago on compassionate grounds, allowing him to move back to his boyhood club Brondby.
Agger is a modern legend. Often missed or ignored from people's lists of favourite players. But for me he was everything you'd expect from a centre back.

We have seen loyalty with Gerrard and Carragher, however this was a guy wasn’t a scouser….it wasn’t in his DNA, but with him this didn’t matter.“I’d thought about it for a long time.
