Nabil Fekir talks planned for after the Champions League Final

Image
Liverpool are set to open talks for Lyon star man Nabil Fekir, after being  heavily linked with a move for the playmaker in recent weeks as they look to bolster their squad over the summer.  Fekir appeared to say goodbye during Lyon's final game of the season with the underline feeling that he won't be returning after the World Cup this summer.  He's had what most would consider to be a great season, scoring 23 goals in 40 appearances and it's that goal threat from an attacking midfield role which is believed to have whetted Klopp's appetite.  Where will he fit into the Liverpool line-up?  Below is a superb video showing just how well suited he will be to the Liverpool squad.   There has been a lot of talk about his style of play and actually how good he is, which got me thinking; where will he fit into the Liverpool line-up. All out attack The attacking three of Mane, Firmino and Salah would have the energy and pace of Fekir and Keita sitting

Our European nights - what makes them so special?

Image
What makes our European Nights so special? As a club we have had so many amazing nights, so many amazing stories to be told and passed on from generation to generation.  Saturday 26th May 2018  could be the latest instalment where our dreams are realised. The latest chapter in the Klopp era. Win against Real Madrid Winning against Real Madrid would truly be an amazing achievement. Putting us where we belong back amongst the top 3 successful European teams. What a season it will have been! Champions League winners.....should that happen then you do have to say that it really is down to Jurgen Klopp. Our 12th man. How lucky are we to have him at the helm. The charismatic German making the correct decisions, look what he's done with people like Alexander-Arnold and Robertson this season. What an improvement in Firmino - now we have a world class striker. Not only that, but the inclusion of Salah has been simply phenomenal. Klopp has inspired our players to commit

Could FIFA's idea of Club World Cup mean a potential new European League?

Image
Today there have been several reports stating that FIFA are ready to invite Liverpool to take part in a new 24-team Club World Cup to be held every four years and launching in 2021. The tournament would have 12 teams from Europe, with clubs who have won at least three European Cups the first to be invited. The tournament could earn participants more than £100million, but UEFA and the Premier League are furious with the proposal and will oppose the new competition. FIFA plan to push ahead for the new tournament regardless, with the first to take place in June 2021. Invitees would include Liverpool, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona, AC Milan, Bayern Munich, Ajax and Inter Milan.  Juventus would also be invited on the basis of having won two European Cups and two Intercontinental titles. This got me thinking. The heavy weights from the proposed competition are all from Europe. Yes there are a few South American teams that are well followed, however most of the tal

Mohamed Salah - a new idol has been born

Image
What can be said about Mohamed Salah that hasn't been said before? What a debut season for us, simply phenomenal. Surpassing all expectations, especially from those who labelled him a 'Chelsea Reject' and questioned why we were signing him.  Oddly enough those comments were diminishing after every Player of the Month award he won. Naturally we are in the enviable position of having a world class player amongst our ranks. However new problems are on the horizon of 'how do we keep him'. Real Madrid are serious about offering the club and him a lot of money. I'd be easy to accept it, however a foolish decision. As a club we've yet to spend the Coutinho money and with the additional money from our Champions League adventure Klopp could have up to £200m to spend on those 2-3 players to take us to the next level. Keeping him and building the foundation Keeping him and rewarding him with a big contract would do three things: Install faith

Robbie Fowler - Liverpool Legend

Image
What can be said about Robbie Fowler? The 'Toxteth Terrier' also know as 'God'. He is a legend with a sweet left foot and one of the most natural goalscorers to grace English Football. Also the 6th highest scorer in Premier League history - 128 in the league for Liverpool. At just 18 yrs old it didn't take long for him to get in his stride. Against Fulham in the League Cup he scored in the 1st leg. 2 weeks later at Anfield in the 2nd Leg Liverpool won 5-0 - Fowler got all 5. He had arrived - the Kop taking to him instantly. Goals kept coming The goals kept coming - his 1st league hat-trick arrived 5 games later. His reward was a England U21 call up. How did he repay it? He only scored in the 3rd minute!! What a start to your professional career. He is a legend with a sweet left foot and one of the most natural goalscorers to grace English Football In the 1994 - 95 season he scored the Premier League's second fastest hat-trick ever, in four minute

Danny Agger - A true Viking Warrior

Image
In January 2006 Liverpool completed the signing of Denmark international defender Daniel Agger, signing from Brondby for £5.8m whilst signing a four and a half year contract. He quickly became one of the most popular players during his spell on Merseyside. Sadly his career was blighted by numerous injuries. His first full season at Anfield, in 2006/07, was the only time he made more than 40 appearances in a single season. “Daniel will be one of the best centre-backs in England in the future, I am sure of that" “A youngster like Danny can be worked with and he can become Liverpool’s centre-back for the next 10 years." He quickly became one of the most popular players during his spell on Merseyside. Sadly his career was blighted by numerous injuries. His first full season at Anfield, in 2006/07, was the only time he made more than 40 appearances in a single season. In his peak Agger was consistently being courted by top European clubs who played in the Champi

Steven Gerrard - Always a Liverpool Legend

Image
There have been so many great Liverpool players in the past. If everyone were to write a list Steven Gerrard would be in the top 2. The other player 9 times out of 10 would be Kenny Dalglish.   At his peak he was the most influential player in the world. He had a knack to come up with vital goals so often you genuinely forget many of them. Gerrard   spent 17 seasons at Anfield, making his Liverpool debut in 1998 and was a 1st team regular in less than 2 years. Within 3 years of establishing himself in the 1st team he succeeded Sami Hyypiä as team captain . Known affectionately as 'Captain Marvel'  he carried so many different Reds sides down the years. In 2005, Gerrard was honoured as the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year and won the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. Mourinho attempted to get Gerrard twice, Zidane even tried to talk Perez into buying him for Real Madrid. There was a lot of talk in the press after the AC Milan final of him leaving for Chelsea. Gerrard told
